Last night we're sitting in our camping chairs listening to music with a lot of other people. There's an elderly couple that walks by us. They're holding hands and softly talking to each other and smiling.
My daughter leans into me and tells me, "Mom - that's going to be you and Daddy pretty soon."
Ahh. My daughter is being sentimental. I look at her and a smile stretches across my face and then she tells me, "Ya, you're getting old."

Q & A
Q. What do you do after slicing your finger to the bone and severing both tendons?
A. First go to the ER to get sewn up, then put your safety glasses on and go play on your lathe - of course!

Kite Festival
Lincoln City, Oregon has a kite festival every summer. We really like going to it and seeing the "regulars". There are always amazing kites that are HUGE!!! Here's a small sample:
They take their kite flying very seriously. Here's a picture, taken with permission, showing one group with their 2 trailers full of equipment:
There are great kite wars where they knock each other out of the sky, acrobatic kites, sycronized to music performances, just amazing. Here my daughter got our kite up:

And a few minutes later it was up and flying!
And a few minutes later it was down again. See my daughter running? Ya, she's heading towards our kite on the other side of the pool of water there, where our kite went down. And took about 3 kites out of the sky with it. And the line was in the water and several small kids were utterly confused about running into a line while joyfully on their way to the ocean. And I took a picture. And then went running too. Good times.

Link to Another Blog
Really, I haven't laughed so hard in a few weeks. Very hilarious. Dustin credits most of it to the late hour and the long day I've had (this will post tomorrow morning). But it's just funny:

The Time Has Come
Last summer I bought a screen door for our back patio and asked my husband if he would put it up. He said yes, but it would be a bit. Well it wasn't much of a priority to either one of us, so it never got put up.
This summer, the back door was open and here's what I find in our dining room, taken with my cell camera and I was laughing so sorry it's shakey but you get the gist:
Ya - that screen was up in a matter of minutes.

It Happened!!!
I don't know if I mentioned it earlier, but back in April we got baby chicks and have had a lot of fun watching them grow. The past few weeks we've eagerly been awaiting eggs and TA-DA!!! Today we got our first egg! Isn't that great? Had to share.
As awesome as that is, I know that isn't making you laugh so here's the real story. My son was outside and decided to pick up one of the hens. (A normal occurance here, they're pets too.) As soon as he picked her up, the chicken laid her first egg and it landed right on my son's foot. What are the odds? Ha ha, he was so excited to have eggs that he didn't care.
